Unity Wii Questions

Obviously I don’t have the funding for it now, but some day I’d like to get a Wii license of Unity and a Wii Dev Kit from Nintendo. I have some questions though:

  1. When I get the Wii license, will it pretty much be just a “Publish for Wii” option on the build dialog? Are their new variables exposed in scripting such as tilt and distance of the Wii Remote?

  2. When I build a game, how do I test it? Does the Wii Developer Kit come with rewritable debug DVDs that I could build the game onto and test on my Wii?

  3. Does the final product go on sale as a real DVD with packaging in stores, or in Wii Ware, or is it my choice?

That’s all. :stuck_out_tongue: It’d just be nice to get these questions out of my head so I know that Wanilla’s console future is secure. Thanks!

I have read in other posts that the Unity Wii version is designed to be as slick as possible with a pretty tight integration with the dev kit, so AFAIK, yes.

The Wii dev kit would hook up to your machine, and then you test new builds directly on it. There is no burning and re-burning. Imagine the costs if you are making 2,000+ software revisions that you need to test!

That depends on your publishing agreements with Nintendo, or anyone else.

The Unity Wii license, and a Wii dev kit only allows you to actually make a game for that platform, where you go from there with the finished product is a different story and works like most other developer-publisher relations. Nintedo has to approve the game, you need a publishing slot, etc.

We don’t have a Wii dev kit ourselves yet, but I think I am pretty much on track.

I see… Thanks!
