Unity will not start - Windows 10

When I open up Unity, the further I get is to the Unity launcher loading screen, I can wait even for an hour, nothing else happens.

I have windows 10 64-bit.

I tried to restart PC, reinstall Unity, and clean reinstall Unity, nothing worked so far. It worked day ago, no idea what happened. Tried to download a bit lower version Unity, the same endless Unity launcher loading problem.

Any Idea guys?

(Note: I use unity also for work, so this may be even worse problem than I think)

Does editor log gives any info?

Sadly, no log. Editor won`t start, not even that “select project” screen in unity launcher. Only this blue Unity launcher window.

Did you try to double click on an existing scene to provoke Unity into opening scene view directly?

haha good advice  But no, it again starts that blue loading launcher screen and doesn`t move forward.
Really no idea what to do at this point. Tried to install 5.0.4, though the same issue.

Would be nice if some Unity support could confirm this is indeed some Win10 bug.

Please, nobody at all?

I tried

  • Restarting PC
  • Clean reinstallation of Unity
  • Installing older 5.0.4 version
  • Running as administrator/or compatibility mode
  • Launching from .scene file
  • Deleting all appdata unity files

I just cannot get to open Unity, does any have any info or similar problem at all?

I would play around with the command line arguments as there is probably an incompatibility somewhere. For starts I would try: -force-opengl

It could be a problem with DirectX 12 and/or your video card.

did you manage to solve the problem? I am trygin to install Unity in Windows 10 Home. I have tried the 2017 version and the Unity 5.6.5. It freazes after instalation. the problem seems to affect a lot of people but no solution seems to be available.

Did anybody solved the problem?
Would be very nice for any hint

Thanx, Matthias

I have the same problem. I go to launch Unity and it does nothing. Just freezes up. I’ve tried re-installing it. Everything I can think of. I finally have to use the task manager to kill the damn thing.

Unity wont start for me also , unless i go to the HUB and choose a project template ,

Go to Hub start a new project and run unity from there

it didnt work when i put 64-bit, but i tried 30-bit and it worked
