Unity won't paint 3D meshes

I need to make my flowers and rocks 3D meshes so they can be minable resources for the player’s workers. However, Unity won’t paint 3D meshes saying it is over 65 thousand vertices. if the detail mesh painter applied them they way I want it it would not be over 16 vertices for the rocks and over 200 for the flowers. By the way, I imported the images of each mesh as a plane in blender. I then imported it into Unity 3D 5.4x as an FBX. Also the rocks I sculpted out of the default cube and they are medium poly assets. I have dealt with this issue to the point that unity is almost unusable.

Also another issue I am haveing is that the tree editor does not produce the tree I want it to. It makes trees that come out of a Freddy Cougar horror show with the leaves floating above the branlets. I have delt with this problem since three editor first came out.

by the way, I have all of my assets scaled correctly and imported properly.

thank you for any help.

ok… maybe english is not my primary language… but I have no idea what’s the problem… maybe you have some screenshots or anything ?

Sorry for the bad spelling. I have poor eyesight. The tree I did not put too much effort into; The reason for this lack of effort is because the more effort I put into it the worse it looks.

hello? anyone?

Hey y’all I really can’t use unity because of this error.

Try adjusting the detail resolution and Detail Resolution Per Patch properties.

thank you I will try that later tonight. so how can I fix the floating leaf and wierd branch placement issue?

also, I tried increasing and decrease my detail patch and detail resoultion. It still only paints 2D textures as grass. I have to hand place my meshes.

Check and see how many verts unity sees on the objects. If you had modifiers on them in blender it will apply them, raising the vert count.

I finally got the rocks and grass to paint. Also the objects are medium poly rocks and low poly grass objects.

I figured out the issue. It is trying to paint thousands of medium poly rocks in one patch.

I tried all of the usual fixes posted online and right now I just don’t have the time for this bull $h!t. I have two tests, two cumulative finals and term paper due next week. Also, I found out I need to rewrite my entire senior thesis from scratch. I will deal with this over Christmas. if ya’ll could close the thread and reopen again on December 12th I would be happy. I wish to thank everyone who gave helpful advice. I will see y’all in September.

sorry I meant decemember.

I did some tweaking with the game object and finally got it to paint this. These are rocks on my debugging map

by the way y’all were right I had way to many verts and poly so I decimated the object.

I got it to paint by using exporting the .FBX in the default rotation but with the transform modifier in the selection options. I also removed the colliders and decimated the object by using the decimation modifier. I also used some of the suggestions to lower detail patch and detail resolution. Now onto the other problem; how do I get unity to creat normal trees without floating leaves.

This what I just created with my new knowledge. I call sunset on sandstone hill.
