I have removed all virtual disk drivers, debuggers, and anything that could possibly interfere, I almost disabled everything on my system. I even tried it in safe mode… Have tried adding a DEP exception, run in compatibility mode, as administrator and tried running the old version that used to work (except I’m sure I only used it on my WinXPx32 install - while now I’m on Win7x64)
I’ve been trying to fix this for hours! Someone help me!
Help!!!
Days later and tinkering and I still can’t get ‘er goin’.
SoftICE is a kernal mode debugger often used by hackers to crack software. I guess Unity has built in protection against it. If you’ve ever had this installed on your machine, make sure you’ve removed all trace of it and try again.
Sure sounds like DRM is doing its job. Hurt legitimate customers while the pirates aren’t bothered at all.
No doubt - I’ve done my best to remove every single trace of any debugger I’ve ever had installed - except I do not think I have ever installed a debugger on this Win7x64…!
I was going to start delving through my drivers one-by-one - except, as I said, it will not run in safe mode, so none of my drivers should be the culprit.
I’ve tried two versions of Unity as well - both same result.
