I just have to say that this is clearly the future of game development and the way games will be played. The direction of technology is just constantly pointing toward live streamed media over the net. I don’t think Unity Team could have made a better choice than to go this route. It will constantly push other engine platforms to catch up. What is more amazing though is that the cloud system will pretty much alleviate any problems or hurdles the gamers will have with meeting spec requirements on pc/mac and allowing near infinite performance possibilities with handheld/phone platforms. Can’t wait!
What I’m not clear on at the moment is how this technology works, whether it’s like processing all of the game on the server and rendering it there and streaming a video, or whether the webplayer client does all the graphics generation and the server sends some kind of stream of commands or something about what to draw. The article mentioned something about a dual rendering method so it confused me.
Seems like a startup, looking to compete with that OnLive service? Everything I clicked on was, “Coming soon!”
