Unity XR Roadmap Update

We’re excited to share our latest roadmap regarding Unity’s XR offerings. This should help you understand what’s coming down the pipeline, and more importantly, provide a channel for you to express what features are most important to you. This will be a critical part of our development process to validate what features we work on next.

Our roadmap contains several tabs that reflect different areas within XR so please be sure to check them all out:

  • XR Platform Support - create cross-platform XR apps for a wide range of supported XR devices
  • XR Interaction and Input - leverage spatial input and prebuilt interactions using the XR Interaction Toolkit and XR Hands package
  • AR Foundation - build rich AR and MR experiences once, then deploy across multiple mobile and wearable devices
  • XR Content - use XR examples, templates, and samples to quickly get started
  • XR Remoting and Simulation - test your apps with ease on device without building and deploying, or with using simulated devices
  • MARS - create AR apps with better workflows and plain-language authoring tools

Sharing Feedback
We’re committed to reviewing all the feedback that comes through the portal, so please vote for features that are important to you and leave detailed explanations in the corresponding feature cards to help us understand your needs. If you feel like something is missing from the roadmap, feel free to use the “Submit a new idea” card to share your thoughts.

In addition to monitoring feature requests, the team regularly reviews bugs and issues. Please report bugs via the Unity Bug Reporter in the Unity Editor, and provide as much context as possible so we can rapidly triage the issue. Before submitting a bug, check if it’s already been reported here, otherwise, your bug may be closed as a duplicate if a similar one exists.

We can’t wait to see what you build!!
