Unity3d and Scaleform?

i was wondering when Scaleform get intigrated into Unity?
cause current GUI system we got is not very good :frowning:

It’s not going to happen, they’re doing their own new GUI system. (Though apparently Scaleform themselves are working on some kind of third-party plugin support, but I expect it will be far from cheap.)

Scaleform would be awesome, lots of games use it and many engines integrate it for good reason.

well friend of my works in big company so they got Scaleform…
they where wondering what are possobiliitys to do it… well if it dosent heppen, thats sad :frowning:

personaly i would love to hear more about this new GUI system

Autodesk has shown a scaleform integration at Unite 2011 so they are working on a plugin.

If a friend of you works in a big company then they will likely be able to make use of it in one or the other form.

Reason being our publishers’ marketing departments heard it was good. I might be accused of serious hating on Scaleform across these forums but I’m yet to talk to anyone in person who has found it worth the money.

Full rant here

Scaleform is great if you got talented gui and flash artists. And also if you need all the advanced features. If you just need a flat menu then I don’t think you would benefit from scaleform .

I would certainly invest in training time for scaleform support if it was added and pro users didn’t have to pay the license fee  but as it is the licensing cost is just too great for me to ever bother with it.

It being flash (for authoring) means you can find people versed in it very easily so that is why it is so popular.

It’s really great (ignore the ranting people) but it’s cost is pathetic. I wouldn’t ever bother with it unless it was something like $100 to license. Seriously.

You should be aware scaleform isn’t designed to be pixel perfect in any way ever, it is also quite fast, which is why you don’t get precisely the same look as native flash when using it. It is just meant to be a powerful way to get ui’s done in larger teams.

For an indie there’s no point.
