Unity3D with MSI laptops / notebook

Just wanted to inform anyone that might have the same problem I had during the last few days.
I just bought myself a new laptop from MSI. (MSI ge72 geforce 960m)

Had Windows 8.1 at first, Installed the latest Unity3D and surprise!! the editor kept freezing on me everytime I opened the build settings or tried to mess around with the editor interface. The play mode was glitchy and the editor had weird graphic glitches overall.

I tried everything, made sure I had the latest drivers for every single thing on my PC and also installed windows 10 (thinking that would solve my problem :S). Made sure everything with my drivers was fine and also messed around with my device manager by disabling the Intel integrated graphic card to make sure that Unity uses my Nvidia GeForce card… nothing worked…

The solution was:
MSI laptops come installed with a bunch of useless apps that are supposed to enhanced your gaming experience and make everything better… Turns out I just had to uninstall EVERYTHING related to MSI and BAM Unity now works perfectly and no more glitches !! :smile:

I had a very hard time finding a solution by looking on the web and even in the forums so I decided to make a very explicit thread related to MSI and Unity.

I hope futur game devs with MSI laptops find the solution faster than I did because I was about to go and ask for a refund on my laptop tomorrow :smile:

Thanks, I’ve been searching for a fix for a while. I’ll try this. Can you tell me which programs exactly you uninstalled?

EDIT:
Fixed! I uninstalled MSI related software one at a time testing till Unity didn’t crash on resizing. After uninstalling a bunch of stuff with no effect, i finally uninstalled Nahrmic for MSI which is an audio management software. No idea why but after that one it started working. So maybe I should have started with that one. Thanks!
