I was looking at Windows 10 resource monitor trying to track down excessive network usage and see UnityPackageManager.exe is maintaining a constant connection to 138.21.238.35.bc.googleusercontent.com.
It has transferred over 300GB in the last 30 days.
I don’t think I’m being unreasonable when I say wtf?
EDIT:
I blocked the address in the firewall. Unity failed over to some other IPs and then suddenly went quiet. Hasn’t come back. I don’t know if there was an issue with that one particular address or what.
I think a watchdog process should be put in place to detect if Unity uses more data than Netflix, because that’s just crazy. Data caps are real and user telemetry is the wrong reason to run out of data.
