whistles I like!
Other than some font and minor bevel changes, this has been the first substantial Unity logo update in 17 years!
Its understandable for it to look odd at first. ![]()

Desktop logo is not very nice, reads like a different logo at first glance, so I would suggest another pass at that.
This looks bad sorry
On the old logo cube being in center was kind of subtle and could be missed at first glance. Now it’s not, it’s optical illusion that is easily noticable. Also looking at optical illusions for a long time hurts my eyes, literally, because my brain can’t really understand what am I looking at. Asked a friend, he has exact same problem
Eh… nope. I don’t like it.
“you wanted a cube? How about you start walking in this, this or that direction instead.”
Doesn’t help that anything resembling isometric is going to remind some people of Control cube puzzles.

+1
In reality, the old one was distinctive and instantly recognizable in all sizes. The new one? It’s a weird hexagon with some smudge in the middle. I don’t see neither the improvement nor the need for it. I don’t like the new one because of it.
Don’t worry, guys. It’s obviously still WIP and will be final in 3-4 years.
Galactic years.
There are so many different values of grey in the desktop logos it’s a little absurd. Seeing it in this form it’s a different logo to me.
I hope I get used to it, though it’s generic nature (there are a lot of isometric cube logos out there) might make that easy. For me it’s brought nothing new apart from unnecessary complexity with extra greys.
The font works well though.
Seeing the thread title and having flashbacks of past design decisions (forum, assetstore) I expected to hate it like I hated when Wacom changed their logo. Still think the older one was better, but I don’t feel strongly about it.
I wish we could get some nitty gritty insights into how much of a design-by-committee hell the creation of the logo was for the designer(s) working on it and trying to get everyone on board.
Looks like ninja star to me.
They haven’t updated their branding page or logo downloads yet.
Good job the logo is on a beta. Feedback is good but as @Andy-Touch said, it can take some getting used to.
The new logo is quite different but in the end there’s only one Unity around with a boxy logo so I don’t think anyone is going to mistake it for a delivery company this time round.
Does seem a tiny bit generic though.
I like the concept on paper way more.
But I’m not a fan of how it actually looks. Probably had a very compelling presentation if you’re being talked through it by the artistic team though.
If you see the arrows primary, the shading is kinda like cludgy beveling and it feels very … meh.
I finally pinpointed what it reminds me of and figured out why I don’t like it.

So the message seems to be:
“turn left or right, or go back. You cannot proceed”.
Or even “Go away! Or get sidetracked”.

The original logo was a tilted perspective cube, and even though there were arrows, they never registered to me. Perspective cubes are cool and related to video games and computer graphics.
Another computer graphic symbol would be 3 axes, but the thing is, in case of axes one is normally pointing up. And “up” is “forward”, and that’s where you’d wanna go.
So, uh… not a fan. It gives a noticeable “you shall not pass” feeling.
Yeah, I actually never noticed the arrows in the original either. They’re way more prominent in this one.
This is my first time realizing the old one was supposed to be a cube.
So the new one is more obvious there. No real opinion otherwise, seems like a lateral move to me.
