Unity's google rankings

I just noticed something cool, that I’m guessing is directly related to the increased popularity of Unity.

Searching google with generic gamedev keywords not aligned with any particular engine such as Rigidbody, Raycast and Box Collider, consistently returned links to the Unity forums and documentation in the top 10 hits.

Talk about free advertising!

If this keeps up, maybe one day we won’t need to use site: to search the Unity forums!

You’re not wrong, “Rigidbody” returns Unity 3rd and 4th result down

This is great, Unity 3D must be getting popular. The more Unity users the better. Unity should be the new flash :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve looked up Unity’s website on several tools provided by google like Google Website trends, insight search. Here are the results :stuck_out_tongue:
You can clearly see how Unity’s popularity is rising lol

nice.

If you search fleshlight, it shows that every christmas, there is an increase in searches.

I laughed at that. Hilarious. And yes I am stalking your posts now.

Indeed, if you look for fireworks, i can’t really remember which month but I think it was June of every single year, searches of fireworks skyrocket and then go down again

unity3d.com beats udk.com hands down
not tooo serious but fun

$3.24 Million
http://bizinformation.org/us/www.unity3d.com
vs
$387,384.16
http://bizinformation.org/de/www.udk.com

Ha, sweet.

UDK is really bad though, I tried scripting in that thing it made my eyes bleed. Has anyone tried optimizing a simple script in UDK, jesusss… its brain murder.

exactly. Worst scripting in the internet.

UnrealScript has some good ideas, like States and DefaultProperties… all of which are negated by the fact that there is no documentation!
