Congrats to the Windows-using folks on getting Visual Studio as their default editor in Unity 5.2+.
But I’m on OS X.
Is there an official, public roadmap for improving the IDE on that platform?

I think MonoDevelop 5.9 is coming with 5.3 as you can see in Unity’s Roadmap. If you’re a Pro user, you can already start using it with the 5.3 Beta.
Have you tried Visual Studio Code? They have a page for setting it up with Unity. The OS X has debugging that works with Unity. There’s going to be an update soon that has shader syntax highlighting and improved debugging.
