Hey guys. I been learning UnityScript and just finished the online tutorials and feel like there is much more I could learn. So I checked out a couple of books and was wondering which one should I pick.
Option 1 : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Unity-3-x-Game-Development-Essentials/dp/1849691444/ref=pd_sim_b_2 This book is made by the author of the tutorials I did and I think is good but might not be advanced enought.
Option 2 : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Unity-3-Game-Development-Hotshot/dp/1849691126/ref=pd_sim_b_2 Its an advanced book but not sure if its good since it could be too advanced for me
Option 3 : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Beginning-Game-Development-Unity-All/dp/1430234229/ref=pd_sim_b_6 It seems good enough.
There is more books for Unity scripting languages but these 3 I think are the best. Please tell me which one you think is the best and link me to some other one if you think its better than any of these.
Read Option 1 never got to read Option 2 or 3 Wish they would make these books in C# I could easily convert it but who reads a book to do that…
Also I read this one you should look into it
This is basically the second edition of the 1st
both I reccomend but the Author is very laid back and makes the topics “Fun” I suppose… He jokes and makes puns so if you dont like his style you wont like the book. Some people say he dumbs down the topics but the book is very good for beginners.
I was wondering if theres a book that can introduce AI,HUDS,Interface and stuff like that to me so after I read the book I would be ready to build a game. I really dont want to get a book that will make be solid at the basics and thats it. I want a book that can take the basic knowledge I know, streghten that and then teach me the advances.
Does option 1 teach advanced topics? does the book you point out teach that?
You could try Unity 3.x Scripting (http://www.packtpub.com/unity-3-x-scripting-to-build-custom-characters-game-environments/book) when it comes out. I have it pre-ordered. The expected release date is sometime in April 2012. That does have the basics of enemy AI. I don’t know if that’s what you are looking for though.
