Universe Edge : build spaceships, setup equipment, manage crew.

Hello Everyone!

I would like to introduce Universe Edge. It is a single-player spaceship-building, crew-management, space-exploration game.
It is currently 6 months old, and still pretty far from a playable state.

So basically you build your spaceships with blocks ( like in SpaceEngineers ) manage the crew ( inspired from Gnomoria ) and explore the space by mining asteroids ( for energy or as a building materials ) foods and stuffs.

I just recently launched a Kickstarter for it as an attempt to work on it full-time to completion, but it failed. So now I’ll be just working on it on my free time, I am not really following a schedule right now. So there’s no date yet.

I have built a really small demo for the Kickstarter campaign, you can try it here :
You’ll have to read the guide / or watch the tutorial video if you wanna try everything inside it.

Right now I am currently working on equipment for the atmosphere system :

So you’ll actually need to use Water and Energy to create oxygen and do science stuffs. But we’re not totally aiming for realism, so just the basic stuffs atleast. Right now Oxygen, Hydrogen, CO2, Methane and Nitrogen are the initial first gas that will be in the game. You can read more indepth details here.

I’ve also reworked the texture system by adding normal map effect to make it more look good.

That’s it for now! If you are interested in the game or development and have question, feel free to ask!

Thank you for reading!

It’s very-very good work for 6 months. How many people works on it?
P.S.: Nice graphics. I don’t know why, but it takes me back into 80’s)

I tried the demo and is cool  but it’s hard to move through Y axis, may be you should enable the middle mouse button to move through it (as the unity editor).

Shame the kickstarter failed. Looks pretty cool.

Thanks! I’m currently working on the game alone.

Thanks for the feedback! The controls is similar to Unity’s free-fly cam, hehe. Even the in-game rotate gizmo was inspired from Unity
