That notice + announcement have been up for a while now. Don’t remember exactly how long but it’s over a week.
It was there before, though was dismissable. Looks like they put up a non-dismissable one now.
There seems to be a lot of posts missing from this thread. Or I don’t understand the infinite scroll also hides some things. Maybe the posts (my posts for example) were too critical of the design so they weeded those out. Since I can’t even see my own posting history from the Forum, I will just have to manually search for signs. My username didn’t even migrate over correctly. What a joke.
The problem is that the forum will be migrated but so far it is not - this specific post will be duplicate after the migration I guess?

AFAIK the actual migration is happening in the background and the data isn’t accessible. For example this thread isn’t a copy of the one on the forum. It’s simply the one that was made for Discussions.
That is not correct at all.
The actual migration will begin, when we put Discussions, this site, on readonly mode.
Putting on Forum to read-only mode was a necessity to make the required preparations for Monday.
All these dates, and their reasons were shared in previous announcements
Ill hope you add more catagories and such before going live, because as it stands this isnt a replacement for the forum
Will bans be carried over from the old forum as well during the migration?
If so it was fun posting here while it lasted… but i’ll also feel a tad awkward
At the bottom of the op there is a link to FAQ which addresses this concern. Reserve judgement for when the setup and migration is complete.

Thanks for the correction. By the way I noticed the report feature of Discussions only allows you to specify spam and a DSA violation. Will there be a more capable reporting system like was available with the previous forum?
Thanks for the detailed explanation, LeonhardP! The TL;DR at the beginning is super helpful. Sounds like a positive move for a more unified and feature-rich community platform. Looking forward to the smoother experience and improved discoverability of content in Unity Discussions!
it’s July 14th and it won’t let me post anything in the forum all it says is “You have insufficient privileges to reply here.” and it wasn’t like this yesterday I have no idea what’s happening. is anyone else having problems?
Edit I read the dates wrong I thought that the forum became read only on july 15th, so i guess thats on me
I need to ask a question on Edy’s Vehicle Physics - official thread the asset I bought for years now what the hell I can do now?
You can wait until the scheduled migration is finished, or get in contact with the asset creator directly through other means.
Will there be an auto-forward to the new discussions page when going to forum.unity.com?
It seems that video embeds are not migrated. My post here had two embedded videos, but they were not there when I viewed the post a few minutes ago.
try now the rebaking of embeds will take a few hours . your post should now be fine
Yep, they are there now. Thanks.
Hi, I’m new to Unity Discussions, so I have some questions:
How do I add tags to my topics?
It seems that I cannot edit the first post in my topics anymore. There is no any edit button in the first post:
https://discussions.unity.com/t/released-utility-intelligence-a-user-friendly-utility-ai-framework/940124
Is this a bug or expected behavior?
And I guess this is why this transition really happened. This “community” format offers better tools and by design (it’s all broken down and isolated) helps avoid people grouping up (consensus building) and voicing their opposition against Unity moves like the one about the fees, that really shook up the company and community or other unpopular changes over the years. The new rules of engagement are also in the same direction, while on the surface, they appear like common sense.
