Updating Unity

Hello!

I have a question about the updating of Unity. I have not newest version of Unity and I would like to update it. If I click in update button in popup window Unity it sends me to official site and shows download button of new version. But, as I understand I need to reinstall Unity to update it. Is there some way to just update my Unity without deleting it? Because I’m afraid to lose my settings, projects data and other staff…Honestly, I dont wanna make some of my games from start… :frowning:

Updates mean reinstalls.

  • Use Unity Hub.
  • Backup your projects daily.
  • Don’t be scared.

You can install the new version in another directory and keep both versions.

I used to keep order on my PC. I need only newest version, so it’s not desirable to have both versions.
What if I will just copy my “Projects folder” from last version in newest one? Will it work perfectly?

Or, what if i choose install folder for new versions existing folder of my Unity?

Your projects folder shouldn’t be in the unity application folder. You should always have a backup though. But installing a new version of unity and deleting the old one should have no impact on your projects other than updates that may be needed.

Thank you, I will try it today and report results!

Just choosed install in existing folder of my old Unity and all works well!
