Hi, I have Unity 5.4 installed on Mac. Do I have to uninstall it to install the new version 5.5? Couldn’t find any info on how to upgrade from different versions. Because when I verify for updates from inside Unity’s menu, it will will say that I have the latest version installed “5.4.2”, which is not true, because there is a new version which is 5.5.
No, you don’t have to uninstall. If you leave the old app alone, the installer will overwrite it with the new one. I sometimes need to keep a few old versions around for a while, so I simply rename them (e.g. rename the Unity app to “Unity 5.4”) before running the installer. Then you’ll have both the old and the new.
