My 1st post in this community so I apologize in advance if the question is stupid.
I have a question: is it allowed to use assets from the Asset Store to make simple images in other applications? I’m interested in including these assets in environments made in Vue, to make 3D render stills. This is for non-commercial purposes.
And a companion question: if answer is affirmative, how can I buy assets from the Asset Store? I don’t see any “add to cart” button or similar.
To buy from the asset store. Simply open the unity engine. Then Window → Asset Store → to the product you want to buy/download. (You need to create an account first.) (Some product cost money some don’t cost anything.)
You can use the products you buy in a third program, for example Vue, Cryengine etc… Some products may contain special copyright laws. But most are free to use were ever you want.
I hope this answers your question. If not, post a reply and I will help.
In the meantime I discovered how to buy/download from the store. But I don’t know how to use the assets in a different program. I see in the store that the assets are in FBX format, which is great, but I can’t find them anywhere in my hard drive. I saw in other threads that assets are stored in AppData and I did find the folder but there’s no FBX files there, only a “unity package” file. In my case, I downloaded the “nobiax free rocks”, so the file name is “Nobiax Free Rocks.unitypackage”. They open fine in Unity but I can’t find the FBX files to open elsewhere. Could you please help?
Another question is how do I check the copyright/usage restrictions. I can’t find any text.
Thanks!
Just import it into your Unity Project. Then right click on the folder and press show in explorer.
When you open the folder in windows explorer just drag the file/files into another folder or open it in the program you want. And that should be it.
(If you have mac, then I don’t think it would say “Show in explorer”. Just btw.)
