since i’m looking and i would bet others are as well, how about a thread where we post useful free software?
what i am personally looking for right now is a sound editing program (with features like noise filtering, pitch shift, those kinds of things) so if you have a link to a sound editing program (legal please… no illegal torrents of high-priced software like the Adobe suite.) please let me know.
as such, however, since i don’t want to come to this thread empty handed, there’s Sculptris. i’ve been using it and it’s pretty powerful. it’s open source/freeware (though the author does accept donations) and pretty powerful for what it is. (essentially, it’s a Zbrush clone but doesn’t have all the bells and whistles… it seems to focus mainly on the sculpting aspect that Zbrush is famous for.)
+1 Audacity is about as good as you are going to get, although it is nowhere near as feature-packed or as high of quality as its paid alternatives such as Adobe Audition (Formerly Cool Edit). With that said, I absolutely love Adobe Audition and in all honesty, $350 (Which is what Audition CS5.5 alone retails for, although you can find it on Amazon for $314 and possibly cheaper at other outlets) is nothing in this industry. In fact, I find $350 to be a VERY reasonable price for what you receive.
Gmax free version of 3dsmax it is very useful tool it may doesnt have tons of modifiers and render engine but its good for games. http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax
