Using online movie clips for textures

Hi I was wondering if it possible to use realtime webcam images or movies as a material in unity. It is important that it is realtime and the clips will be stored on a dedicated server.

movies can be used. webcam not unless you use a plugin (so no webplayer), as you likely won’t find an theora streaming software for it.

If someone got youtube vids work, I don’t see why not

Are you asking if you can broadcast live using webcam when someone is playing your game? I think the answer is no… but I could be wrong. If right, that might require something huge/major. If you mean recording a video of your webcam thing, then put that clip in Unity, then yes I believe it’s possible but with Unity Pro I think.

WWW.LoadImageIntoTexture might be what you’re looking for.

Well live would be fantastic but I know impossible. But it is possible to import sequences I guess, so there will be a delay. So this will be the most realtime result you can achieve?

no you can have realtime but you will need the required software and hardware power to compress the realtime into ogg theora videos in realtime
