Conversion from polygon collider (or other) shapes to Mesh is not supported out of the box.

It is possible to write a script that does that. See: Create mesh by defining points - Questions & Answers - Unity Discussions

It would be interesting Particle System support for Polygon Collider. We can expect this in a near future? It would be very easy to implement natively.
