Using unity for a non game - is splash screen a problem?

Hello,

I’ve created an App that does nothing else but showing some data and a 3D animation (calculated by users GPS position) on a single screen - there is no user interaction at all. All the user can do is load the app, look on the displayed information and quit the app.

Apple writes:

I’m using iphone basic - will the unity splash screen be a reason for a reject because it’s not a game?

I cant imagine apple will reject your app because you used Unity to produce a non-game application.

3D engines are used for lots of things other than games.

I don’t think that this will be a problem at all. I have seen dozens and dozens of splash screens in the past.
What Apple means by the description you quoted is that you should avoid using different looking GUI parts in your splash screen than you use in your actual application. And this only applies if you use a screenshot of your app for a splash screen to “fake” a faster appearance of your GUI. But if it is just the Unity logo, I see no problem at all with this policy.
