Using Unity in web browser or remotely.

Hi all !. We are thinking with some friends in create some games and we are starting to learn about Game Design and Development and Unity  . But we have a problem. Our PCs are low end and we can’t run Unity well enough.

I want to ask if is possible execute Unity in a web browser or if there’s a service to execute Unity remotely in a more powerful PC. Something like RStudio Server i think.

It’s possible?

Thanks for your answers

Yes, but the cost of renting the service for more than a few of months is almost always way higher than the cost of the hardware needed to run it. Amazon’s AWS Workspaces has a mode that would be capable of Unity but it’s $22/mo plus $1.75/hr. An investment of only five hours per week would make the total cost $57/mo.

By comparison a brand new computer (AMD Ryzen 2200G, 8GB DDR4-3000, 240GB SSD) is only about $330.

There shouldn’t be. Its currently against the Unity TOS to stream or share editor functionality in this way. Any service you do find is probably dodgy, so I wouldn’t recommend using it.

I’m actually surprised Unity struggles to run. The editor is fairly light weight. Its normally game assets that require you to beef up your computer specs.

What are you doing that doesn’t run well enough for you?

Your hardware definitely has an impact on how things run, but so does the content of your project itself. It’s possible to bog down even the best hardware.
