Hello,
i’ve used simple 27’ 144hz Monitors in the past and the editor was always pretty smooth.
I’ve got two new 34’ ultrawide curved Monitors from different brands with 100hz refresh rate and when moving around the Scene, everything is just jittering and lagging horribly. I’ve also got a 27’ 75hz monitor where everything works great. Also, i’ve tried all recent Unity versions without any success.
Would be great to know if it’s even possible to use curved screens without These issues in Unity.
Thanks
Must be your monitors and not your computer. Maybe they’re too curved, try flattening.
Just a guess, but are you using a higher desktop resolution now with your new monitor than you were using before? Installing the monitor may have increased it without you explicitly adjusting it yourself. This could have significant performance difference.
Alternately, did the instructions for the monitor mention anything about installing drivers for the monitor?
Oh that’s a good idea, I should’ve just said that instead of being a douche.
I just got a new 31" curved monitor for Christmas, so I have special insight in this matter.
And I’m secretly jealous of curved monitors just because I don’t have one, so I’m biased.
Do you have monitors with different refresh rates plugged in at once? I wonder if that could cause issues, since there’s not a single refresh rate for Unity’s rendering to sync to.
I’d also check that all of the outputs on your video card are outputting the same thing.
If the connection is via HDMI, something else worth checking is the HDMI cable version. HDMI 1.x has a lower data rate than HDMI 2.x, so above a certain resolution the refresh rate gets cut. For example, when I plug a HDMI 1.4 cable into my 4K TV the output is at 30hz, where it is 60hz at 1080p.
Also, have you changed things in your project that would impact performance? It may not be the monitors at all.
Check your cables like angrypenquin mentioned. Then double check your screen resolution. If you are running a much higher screen resolution now, the problem could be lack of video card performance. For example, if you were running 1080p and now you are running 4K, then your video card is going to be working much harder. What video card do you have?
