I just came here to post a topic to blow off some steam. I love Unity but the built-in animation system is horrible. The system seems to automatically choose the worst route for rotating that will cause an object to go through a wall or floor. The animation system also changes animation values randomly I.E. if I rotate an object 90 degrees and then in another keyframe rotate the same object -75 of 90 the 90 degrees in the previous keyframe will become 85.39385 that is infuriating. I am a long time user of Unity and I will continue to support it but this animation system needs to be fixed.
Sadly, yes. I posted a list of gifs in the animation, which you can see down the discussion board a bit, showing all sorts of cases where rotation gets randomly “twisted” or “flipped” … it makes no sense at all.
There is so much I like about Unity, especially what it’s done for indie devs like myself. And I know the devs that work on it put in a lot of hours – like any product.
But, it’s extremely frustrating to have fundamental things like rotating an object, previewing along the animation timeline or copy-paste not work reliably. I’m not sure about you, but I still pay for the Pro SKU of this product and honestly expect a higher level of quality.
