"validation failed" when installing editors (any editor) unityHub3.9.1

Hi !

  • the problem happens with installing unity 6 but also previous versions
  • i have unity hub 3.9.1
  • i deinstalled my previous editor (unity 2019)
  • i fully closed unity hub in “show hidden icons” on the right of the task bar
  • reoppened the hub from scratch and as admin
  • my license (free) is valid
  • there is nothing to remove in “Installs”, i can only “remove from list” in downloads, which i did

Do NOT do that! Nothing needs admin privileges, and doing so enables further issues.

Uninstall the Hub and reinstall. Delete the cache and temp download locations.

I didnt try your fix because i just managed to instal it :

  • by downloading it outside of the hub from the website
  • then instaling it still outside of the hub
  • locating it in the hub
