No more rumors, it’s now a fact:
What do you guys think? Good move, bad move?

it just feels like a non-event - is it more than just another vendor making another windows box with their stuff preinstalled?

isn’t that what they always say? For me, i’ll wait and see - I don’t see the lack of innovation. We already have 3d and full body motion controllers - and soon, immersive VR (can’t wait for my oculus rift to get here). Seems like we’ve had nothing but innovation for the past few years.
I’d say let’s wait until they have something to show, before we start jumping to conclusions
It seems as everybody is interpreting this as building a console. I interpret it as input device development. My guess is they’re building a new way to play games, but not a new console to play them.
They specifically said they are not developing a console. Let’s just assume they arn’t and don’t get our hopes up
I didn’t read the whole article. I skimmed (and skipped to the comments, where everybody said they are developing a console purely for HL3)
Valve aren’t pigeonholed into games. They’ve said this before. So don’t assume it’s for games. Chances are it is though. This company has the muscle to bring a new competitor in the world of consoles.
And when they punch, they do KOs…
Yeah, they are making jokes.
They said they are not making a console, so everyone is saying they are.
If you read their article, there’s nothing their that indicates they want to do a console, or a computer system. It screams game enhancing devices, IE, better controllers, and interface enhancements. Likely it will be pc/mac addons for games - there’s no reason to split their market away from the core, only expand its usefulness. Since they already have a platform - they could create devices to enhance that much like your console creates a controller for the experience.
