"var" is not a member of "code"

Hello

I am currently trying to change the “gravity” value in the “CharacterMotor” script, but am coming up with a issue of a error code :

'gravity' is not a member of 'CharacterMotor'.

This sujests that the script isnt picking the items. code is bellow.

LadderScript:

var insideTrigger : boolean = false;
	var translation : float;
	var theplayer : GameObject ;
	var playerscript : CharacterMotorMovement ;
	var grav1 : float = 0;
	var grav2 : float = 40;

function Start () {

}

function Update () {
	if (Input.GetKey(KeyCode.W)){
			if (insideTrigger){

				translation = Time.deltaTime * 6;
				transform.Translate(0, translation, 0);
			}
			else{}
		}
		if (Input.GetKey (KeyCode.S)) {
			if(insideTrigger){
				translation = Time.deltaTime * -6;
				transform.Translate(0, translation, 0);
			}
		}

	}
function OnTriggerEnter (collision : Collider){
		if (collision.gameObject.tag == "Ladder") {
			insideTrigger = true;
			theplayer = GameObject.FindGameObjectWithTag ("Player") ;
			playerscript = theplayer.GetComponent(CharacterMotorMovement);
			playerscript.gravity = grav1;
			playerscript.maxFallSpeed = grav1;
		}
		else {
			insideTrigger = false;
		}
	}
function OnTriggerExit (collision : Collider){
			insideTrigger = false;
			theplayer = GameObject.FindGameObjectWithTag ("Player") ;
			playerscript = theplayer.GetComponent(CharacterMotorMovement);
			playerscript.gravity = grav2;
			playerscript.maxFallSpeed = 20;
	}

In your CharacterMotor script the name of the class containing your gravity variable is CharacterMotorMovement.

Your CharacterMotor script has a public variable called “movement” which holds an instance of the nested CharacterMotorMovement class.

So you should access the gravity variable like that

    playerscript = theplayer.GetComponent(CharacterMotor);
    playerscript.movement.gravity = grav1;
