Variables for scripts greyed out in Inspector!

This is what it looks like:

The inspector is also in 'Normal Mode' Already

The red buttons indicate that you are in animation mode, meaning somewhere you have an animations window open with the red “record” button pressed. If you press it again or do ctrl-save it will exit this mode.
