Vcam quickly “whips into position” on start?

Simple scene. Camera with CM and 1 vcam (not patented)
Simple key frame animation of vcam over 10sec.

when I Play the first 4-5 frames the vcam whips into position…then plays normally. It’s very jarring and seems to happen on everything I do.
I’m just learning CM. I’ve set keys to flat, changed Default Blend to cut (although I wouldn’t think either of these is necessary)

What simple thing am I overlooking?
Thank you!!

Can you show the vcam inspector, and also a picture of the section of the timeline where the problem happens?

Create Camera
Create Vcam.
Target to object.
Play: Everything fine

Create Anim timeline for Vcam, defaults with 2 keys.
Play: Fine.

Adjust ending key to new position.
Play: Camera jumps/whips to start position on play and at loop point. very quick, 3-7 frames…
*If you play the timeline anim in the editor and watch the LIVE view it does not do this. Loops fine with a cut in between,

I am just overlooking something stupid, but it is completely preventing me from making nice camera moves. Same thing happens if I create a Blend Camera and set up a few Vcams to ciut between…they do this ‘whip into position’ after each cut to the new Vcam…etc.

I have set the default blend to “cut” in the Brain.

I would guess it’s the damping in your Composer. The position of the vcam suddenly changes when the timeline loops back, but the composer is damping into the new rotation. Set the composer’s damping to 0.

And that is 100% correct. This has plagued me since I got CM.

Thank you!!

If you want to use Composer damping while animating the vcam’s position, you can do that - but if you want to suddenly change the vcam’s position (as if cutting to a new shot) then the best way to do that is to have one vcam per shot, and activate them with a CinemachineTrack on the timeline. Then you can take better advantage of Cinemachine’s procedural features (such as damping). The way you are doing it now, there is no way for Cinemachine to tell the difference between a shot change and a sudden rapid movement.
