Vector 36 Alpha

Hey Everyone,
I thought I would share a WIP demo with you of something I have been working on for the past year and some.

Vector 36 is a physics-based Sci-Fi Racer taking place on the surface of Mars. Pilots can fly their custom built skimmers through the canyons and dunes against other pilots to become the Vector Race League champion.

Current Features:

  • Single player
  • Unique fully simulated physics. WYSIWYG style tuning. No pre-programmed motions.
  • Play modes: Sprint, Circuit, Waypoint
  • Internal and external components affect ship performance.
  • Store sells OEM as well as custom skimmers. Sell old Skimmers.
  • Store sells parts and accessories. Earn credits and upgrade your ship.
  • Skim the surface of mars, from the polar ice caps to the base of Olympus Mons.
  • Variable time of day.
  • Almost unlimited configurations for craft.
  • In-race input between power, cooling, control, fuel, sub-systems.
  • Repair bots repair your ship on the spot, so you can keep on flying.
  • Use Skimmer hardware to hinder opponents. Purge your fuel cell for an EMP blast, or have a bot steal parts.
  • Oculus Rift support
  • Family friendly

Thanks for the look, Please let me know what you think!

Just a quick background: Vector 36 has been in development since Sept 2013. It is made in Christchurch, New Zealand by a very small (1) team. It was put on greenlight in Sept of 2014 and the demo was released to the public last week.

In September it was runner up to the NZGDA Kiwi Game Starter competition along with Phantasmal by Eyemobi and Swordy by Frog Shark (Phantasmal won 1st place). Check them out too! It is currently slated for release in q3-q4 2015, greenlight permitting.

I really want to thank Unity for making such an awesome and accessible engine. I have tried other engines in the past and Unity, by far, is the most intuitive and streamlined. Thanks also to the Unity community, forum, and admins. I have been a lurker for a year now and without the constant support (albeit indirectly), I wouldn’t have gotten this demo out.

Also, if anybody could point me to some sort of PhysX 2.x to 3.x conversion guide that would be great. Looks like the new PhysX in 5.0 has completely changed the dynamics of the game (read: it’s broken now).

Looks pretty sweet! I’m downloading the demo now, already voted yes

awesome thanks very much. Please let me know how you get on with it.

Greenlit! Boom!

New Unity 5 Teaser boom?

Hi,

Very nice project. Sincerelly good luck. :sunglasses:

I fell in love with your DropShip models. Is it possible that some (or all) of these models are sold on the Asset Store? Or your designer can he make a package especially for the Store?

Thanks! I probably wont be putting the bespoke models on the asset store anytime soon, I need them to be unique.

Understood. but…

:p:smile: Something less “sophisticated” will do.
