vertex color information on fbx

hello, i jsut made a little test to know if i can use vertex color made in max and export it to unity with fbx format but it seams that doesn’t work …
maybe there is something to do that i didn’t fink or vertex color for objects are totally excluded ?

Hi, what Shader are you using inside Unity?

i tested with vertex lit or standard… maybe with colored lightmap ?

I don’t think Unity imports vertex color from 3ds max. That said, it doesn’t matter what shader you use in Unity.

Instead, in Unity select the material that is assigned to your model and change the color of it to whatever rgb values you had in max.

I had this problem before. None of the built in unity shaders work but this one on the wiki does vertexlighting from fbx imports and will work.

It certainly does matter what shader you use as it requires a shader that reads the vertex color information and blends it with the texture information in the way you want it to. For most cases the shader that BrianJKD linked to will do the trick.

That’s a waste of time if you already set up one nice color in an external app, but more importantly, that’s one color. Not one color for every vertex.

It might be antiquated, but I’m developing for the iPhone, so it’s a nice technique to have in the bag o’ tricks. Thanks to Ethan for showing me how vertex colors could be used to great effect in the Occlusion Culling Demo.

thanks that works very nice !
is it possicle to add normal bump into it ?

There’s another shader on the same wiki page called VertexColorParallaxBump - any use to you?

that’s cool !
thank’s
