Vertex terrain lightning question.

Heey,

Is it possible to use a vertex light on the terrain but to keep the tree shadows?

vertex lights don’t cast any shadows at all as such, no you can’t

Ok to bad but is there a way to use a pixel light upto 800 meters or so and then use a vertex light for the long distance?

Im now using a lightmap but its not dynamic so it doesnt give me the ability to create a day / night cyclus.

sure, just set the shadow range in the quality settings accordingly. past that range vertex light is automatically used

Not really when i do so it uses my lightmap which is not good because its not dynamic :slight_smile:

then clear the lightmap out

if i clear my lightmap it still doesnt switch to vertex lightning ( i know im a pain the ass :slight_smile: )

yes it does but vertex light means no shadow casting at all anymore, you will only get “darker where the normals don’t face the light”, thats it what vertex light is
