very bad flickering on horizontal elements

Hey,

I am building this archViz VR demo for HTC vive pro.
These buildings have some wooden entrance frames with horizontal bars (see video).
This gives very bad flickering and visual artifacts, not too much visible on the video and PC screen but in the headset it is very bad.

Any idea how to reduce that ?
I guess it is related to some screen refresh rate maybe ?

Thanks

Thin lines with high contrast will cause anti aliasing issues in VR. I am not aware of any fixes other than reducing the contrast between the wood and the gaps, or changing the model to feature thicker bars.
This is just the kind of structure that doesn’t work well in VR.

Thank you for your answer.
Strangely I never noticed that so bad in previous projects…
Here the design is fixed by the architect… so I can’t change it…
I can only hope visitors get close to it, when being close the effect does not show anymore.

Best regards

Sure, once the reflective line is broader than a few pixels, the line won’t be broken by pixelation anymore.
I’d really try a suppression of smoothness with a fresnel with high power. That way, you can smooth out the reflection. The material will mostly look the same. With shadergraph it would be three nodes or so.
