Virtual Workspace, Software Rendering, Swiftshader support in WebGL

A big chunk of our potential users are using a Virtual Workspace like Citrix or VMWare, these users are (to our knowledge) unable to start our WebGL application.

So far, these users have repported using a SwiftShader software based rendering device.
They do not pass the loading screen, we have added a warning that their PC is unable to run our application.

  • Has anyone else experienced this issue?
  • Are these software based renderers supported at all?
  • Is it safe to assume SwiftShader is not compatible?
  • Will these renderers be supported in the future?

Kind Regards,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

I don’t think we explicitly tested the Chrome software renderer yet. Do you have some more information(e.g. an error log) what’s stopping a WebGL build from running? In my personal experience the software renderer is pretty feature complete. So it would be interesting to know if a certain WebGL feature is not supported, that causes the WebGL builds to not work.

Kind Regards,

Marcel
