Visual Scripting for 2d games?

Hello, im completely new to unity. I never done coding before my entire life(execpt gml). I used construct 2 because its easy to use. Clickteam fusion as well. And game maker studio(keep making mistakes). I’d love to develop 2d games solo and without anybody’s help. I heard you HAVE to learn c#(which is very hard to learn) to make a 2d game. Then I’ve heard of visual scripting. I think for unity visual scripting is only good for 2d games, but not 3d. So, what is the best visual scripting is best for making amazing 2d games?

Popularity (including big names like Blizzard Entertainment which used it for Hearthstone) would suggest PlayMaker.

Most of the example games presented on the showcase page for PlayMaker are 3D. Additionally, as far as modern game engines and the very hardware they run on are concerned, 2D is simply flattened 3D. Sprites are handled by triangles, textures, and shaders just like models in 3D games.

So playmaker is good for 2d games?

2D is just 3D with one less dimension!* Playmaker will work well for 2D, yes.

    • And some added 2D-specific stuff, but the point remains

ok does anyone uses playmaker to make 2d game?

Yes. Blizzard does as mentioned on the showcase page of PlayMaker’s website.

this may sound crazy, but can i publish to consoles like ps4 using playmaker? even if i came up with the money?

Yes, if Unity can export to the platform then PlayMaker will work for it. Under the hood PlayMaker is basically just C# scripts that run within the editor and during play. There is nothing about the platform that prevents you from running or selling your game. You can even extend it with your own custom nodes if you decide to learn scripting.
