I am releasing Volumetric timber shader
This is a timber shader working on the cross-section wood textures. The textures are projected along the wood fibers in either world or local axis. The projection transform matrix is included inside the material properties. A dedicated shader gui contains a picker to get the fibers direction from the selected mesh edge. The pick point position and normal define the mapping origin and orientation.
The shader features:
- planar projection in local object or world space, no uv required
- timber grain direction picker
- builtin, URP, HDRP support
The assets specific for scriptable render pipelines are located inside separate unitypackages.
The builtin pipeline shader is based on Surface shader, the shader for SRP (URP HDRP) is shader graph.
If the asset gets well received I would add more shaders, more features, more options and more wood textures.

This is a youtube video from Unity scene, which was inspired by this demo Shader - Shadertoy BETA - mine is not that nice, but made from Unity primitives. Shaders are completely different.
