Hey all,
Just wanted to inform, or re-inform, asset store publishers about voucher scams that may be finding their ways into your Inboxes.
Earlier I received an email from someone claiming to be a Youtuber, stating:
Hello my name is Sebastian, I have a YouTube channel and I upload videos about UNİTY.I will soon upload new videos called unity asset promotions, if you send voucher code of your existence I can make your introduction.
Free
My promises. 1-) at least 6 sales 2-) 1000+ asset page visit My YouTube Channel -https://goo.gl/NN5t9Q - Do not forget to subscribe
Package I can advertise “”
I can confirm that this person is not truly Sebastian. Other than the oddly worded, and poorly formatted email, I searched and found that their emails are also different, though very similar. Just thought I should inform the community, however possible.
I have received the same email from this guy. I asked him why he wants a voucher as he is already teaching how to code a similar game from scratch (in his youtube channel) and he said that he want to use the voucher to create and publish a game!
Have there been any notifications sent to youtube? Although censorship seems to be choice on youtube, one would think they wouldn’t want shysters actively taking advantage of viewers - in the name of promotion.
Just throwing this out here, I’m gonna plug MessyCoder twitch streams (HERE). I enjoy watching these type of twitch streams he does with the actual developer’s answering questions and showing off their assets. Added bonus is those developers give out a voucher through that broadcast rather than random like this here message which I think offers no value.
I personally would like to see more of those and encourage more developers to promote this way. Not only do we get to engage you as your showing it, we can see first hand how to play with it. Adam at procedural worlds makes great videos but being in on a live stream interacting with him and the asset was a priceless experience.
Example: I have been a long time user of Gaia and watching MapMagic demo’d by Denis really swayed me into that tool for the amazing procedural generation which otherwise I would not have taken a jump.
