VR - noise and lag bug

Hello,

I reported a bug a few weeks ago. I sent in a bug report regarded to the noise issue. I got an reply from an employee, where he confirmed that they could reproduce this bug. Although I messaged him a few times after, I never got another reply or a solution for my problem.

The problem is:
When I build a project from scratch and go to “Project Settings” - > “Player Settings” → tick the “Virtual Reality Supported” checkbox and then build the game and run it, I get strange noises from my GPU and on some machines also from the speakers.
I also have huge lags regarding to UI elements (e.g Buttons). When I hover above several Buttons, it takes way too long that the hover state appears.
If I use a FPS Counter, it says that I get hundrets or thousands of frames per second.

If I build the same project, just without checking “Virtual Reality Supported” I don’t get any of these problems.
Also in the editor the nonVR and VR version works perfectly.

I tried several Unity 5.X Versions and several PC’s and Laptops. Most make the strange GPU/speaker noises, but not all.

Hope you can help, because with this bug I can’t publish any game.

still exists…

I think we’re seeing a similar issue? VR mode brings very high CPU load without Oculus Rift - Unity Engine - Unity Discussions

Thanks for the hint, I joined your thread.
