VS Code intellisense and error underlining stopped working

Hello,

I am continuing my hate-hate with VS code. Today I sat down to do some work and suddenly intellisense doesn’t work properly, and the red error lining is sporadic.

I get this when loading up VS code and have tried restarting amongst other things. Any thoughts?

There are lots of errors with respect to loading the .csproj files, and it talks about installing the .NET Framework Developer Pack, yet I have done that and installed it multiple times. Also things used to work fine…

I wonder when Unity will actually write their own competent code editor. It’s ridiculous how hard it is to get basic features to consistently work with Visual Studio and VS code.

Is unity’s external editor properly set as VSCode?

Yep!

The URL they give suggesting to download .NETFramework version v4.7.1 only has downloads for Windows whereas I am on MAC.

I have used VS Code for over a year now and Intellisense has turned off randomly at times but nothing a reset couldn’t fix.

Any ideas? Frustrating as this seems like it’ll be the second weekend this month where I have sat down to code and Unity/VS Code has just decided nah…

Any help folks

My only “solution” to date has been to return to Visual Studio, which is an absolute laggy abomination and reminds me all the reasons why I switched to VS code.

Just checking if any more advice here? Not really enjoying Visual Studio and all of its lag and overheads.

Checking in again. I’m using Visual Studio now but I find I can only just it for about 45 minutes max because beyond that the lag just gets too great as the amount of memory it takes up grows.

I would love if anyone could tell me how to get VS Code working properly with Intellisense, or alternatively how to get Visual Studio to stop taking up so much bloody memory.

I haven’t had the same experience as you with Visual Studio on Mac. What version are you using?

Version 8.7.3 (build 13).

Right now it’s using 1.73 GB of memory. It typically starts a bit over 1 GB and then over an hour builds towards 2 GB, by which point it stops being really useable.

BUMP

Any suggestions? Still using Visual Studio but man is it a chore. Would love to have VS Code useable again.
