Warning: Multi item transactions in Asset Store might fail!

I just wanted to issue a quick warning that when you purchase multiple items in one transaction at the asset store, this might fail. Just happened to me when I tried purchasing OrientationControl, SpriteManager 2 and EZ GUI. After the purchase, Unity downloaded OrientationControl and SpriteManager 2 - but EZ GUI was missing. In the Asset Store, while OrientationControl and SpriteManager 2 showed “Import”, EZ GUI still showed the “buy” button with the price.

Then, I received the invoice, and while this showed the correct sum (EUR 288,00 - I’m using reverse charge VAT, so it’s a bit less than the EUR 360,00 you’d have to pay when the 25% VAT are added). However, it only showed OrientationControl and neither EZ GUI nor SpriteManager 2.

As I needed EZ GUI right now, I purchased EZ GUI again … and hope the second payment will be properly cancelled.

If any of the Unity folks reads this: You’ll find this in the Sales system by the cases:

Unity Technologies A/S Case # 00066156: AssetStore: Invoices miss products … and one product also is missing in Asset Store!!!

and

Unity Technologies A/S Case # 00066157: Invoice to be “cancelled”

I’m not sure why this happened … and whether I’m the only one that ever purchased a few items in a single transaction (I didn’t find forum postings about this issue … but I didn’t look too hard, either as I really need to get going with development again).

One possible reason (and btw, that’s another issue one should be aware of): I originally typed my VAT # as “DE nnnnnnn” (with a blank space between DE and the number). So, the store would have charged VAT. With the items in the shopping cart, and changed my profile and corrected the VAT-number, the cart picked up the change (and correctly stopped charging VAT), and finally, I went through the transaction. That issue is in the system by:

Unity Technologies A/S Case # 00066154: No error message when VAT-ID is in wrong format

and

Unity Technologies A/S Case # 00066155: Re: Unity Technologies A/S Case # 00066154: No error message when VAT-ID is in wrong format

In the end, I realized that it works both with and without country code - but it doesn’t work with blank space between country code and number.

Hi,

Some supplemental information: http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/faqvies.do

It lists the VAT formats used in EU and - if you click ‘home’ - you can validate any VAT number.
