Hi guys, I’m used unity for a while but I had like a 6 month break, and only came back today. Now let me show you a 2 pictures of what my problem is; check attachments.
Now in pic 1, obviously is water set to a reasonable hieght for the ditch , but why is it when i go into the water, there’s no effect of me being under water, like it’s exactly like being outside the water.
There’s no ‘automatic underwater effect’. A water surface effect could be no more than a large quad with an appropriate material attached to it. How could Unity possibly know that this was supposed to be water or that some sort of visual effect should be applied when the camera viewpoint is below it? That would be one smart engine
If you observed this behavior in the past, it’s probably because whatever game/demo/scene you were looking at had implemented this effect explicitly; again, it’s not something that happens (or could reasonably be expected to happen) automatically. But, a basic ‘underwater’ effect should be fairly straightforward to achieve (I imagine the script appels mentioned would be a good place to start.)
