Water Physics (ripples)

In order to create the 3d ripple effect of the water i have used Unitys built in cloth renderer. The ripples look good, though they cause allot of lag, though this may just be down to my current PC being terrible.

However, i would like objects to fall through the water plane instead of just being still on top of it. I know they usually i could use the layers for this and disable the objects collision with the water but that means sacrificing the ripple effect.

Is there a way to make objects fall through the water while still creating this effect?

Can you set the is trigger flag ?
Trigers automatically disable collisions.
Not tested,just a idea.

I don’t want to 100% disable collisons. I still want the water to react, but i want whatever object falls in to sink.

I assume you could have objects and the water mesh on different layers …?
