Water Reflection Troubles

When I apply the one of the pro asset reflective water materials onto a mesh of my own creation instead of the pre-made, the reflections are incorrect. Is there a trick to UV mapping my own water plane? Attached is an example of what I’m running into. I can’t use the pre-made mesh because it doesn’t work for my situation.

Did you drag in the prefab and then assign the custom mesh on the instantiated prefab?

I didn’t originally do that, instead I dragged the material onto the custom mesh. When I tried assigning the custom mesh on the instantiated prefab it worked. Through that, I found original problem – when I change the scale of the height from 1 to something else on the custom mesh, crazy reflections occur.
