Water (simple) problem with performance on iPad

Hello,

At start i want to say “hello” to all members of Unity Community.

I’m at end of my own game but have very hard problem with simple water included by Unity in standard version.

My problem is performance on iPad i lose 10 FPS if water have scale more like (x , y ,z ) 100 , 1 , 100 , whenever if i scale like 2000, 1 , 2000 still lose 10 FPS.

For benchmark i run my game on

3GS - 30FPS
4G - 25 FPS
iPAD1 - 19 FPS

My questions are:

  1. Simple Water don’t have shader optimization for Mobile device?
  2. Why 4G have better performance like iPAD ? Is this is a resolution problem ? IPad have more to render?
  3. Why if i scale more water example 1000% more then i still have always -10 fps?

iPad have more to render. Bigger water = more to render. More pixels covered on screen, slower it is. Simple water is unlikely to be optimised shader. Try mobile/ shaders for optimised alternatives.
