We are releasing a game in November. What version of Unity should we be using in development and on our build machine to ensure the fewest Unity bugs?

We have been updating to the latest version but are worried that using the very latest version of Unity is risky. Which version and build of Unity3D 2017 should we settle on for the near term to ensure a smooth rollout?


If your release date is in November, then surely you have already started development? Therefore, do not upgrade Unity version! You could end up needing to refactor and fix many things and you will then miss your deadline.

The general rule is: Never update in the middle of a project.

Unity 2017 seems to have some problems. Don’t take my word for it, but it does seem to happen a lot. Unity 5.5.1 has given me no build errors since I started.
