Web Player for Linux?

(I saw there was already a thread on this in the “Wish List” forum but I can’t seem to post there.)

Hi. I’m curious if Unity has any plans to provide Linux support for the very large number of games already out there using the Web Player. It’s been a while since Native Client support became fully available in Chrome/Chromium, and I’m finding that most game creators don’t bother to export for NaCl - and those who are aware of the option have valid reasons to not do so, such as the much larger download size and being Chrome-only (Chrome has about 16% of web browser market share). So while NaCl Web Player support is good, I don’t think it’s measuring up as a replacement for a proper Linux version of the Web Player plugin.

Unity 4.0’s Linux export feature has brought many great games to Linux already and despite what a few grouchy people might have said we’re very, very grateful for that! However a vast majority of the total games created in Unity to date are not accessible from Linux, and it doesn’t seem like anything short of a port of the Web Player plugin will change that.

Alternate solutions to this could include an HTML5 export or Web Player replacement, but I’m not sure what Unity’s plans for HTML5 are, aside from the general direction implied by its stepping away from Flash.

+1.
I’d like to see Web Player for Linux.

But since then, enough time has passed. Maybe Unity changed plans?
