Web Player Installation (multiple users on one machine)

Hey folks,

I have a user that installed the Unity Web Player with administrative privileges on a public machine. Other non-admin users then tried to load some Unity content in a browser on the same machine and they were prompted to install the Unity Web Player.

Is the Unity Web Player user-specific (i.e. does each user need to install the web player in order to use it)?

In my experience, installing the Unity Web Player with administrative privileges has granted access to the Unity Web Player for all other users on the machine.

This indicates that the latest version of the web player is now installable by non-admin users. Is this true? Did this change also change how the installation works for admin users (does it no longer affect non-admin users)?

Hey Jared,

Yes, the 2.6 webplayer installs into the users local area. If you have earlier versions of the webplayer installed (perhaps version 2.5.1) you may care to uninstall this prior to installing 2.6.

Is there any way for an admin user to install the browser plug-in so that it can be accessed by all users?

I haven’t found a way to do this. If possible, it would be great if the Unity Web Player installer had an option to install for all users (available only to users with admin privileges).
