Web Plugin Penetration Rates?

Are there any official stats on the penetration rate of the unity web player? I want to start pushing it to clients but until I have a real number of how many people actually have the unity player to give them I’ll be stuck using Flash

Sorry if this has been covered before - I couldn’t find it here in the forums.

Thanks!

not quite what u want but some cool info can be found here:

I started digging into a lot of web plugin information at Unite – both having conversations with UT and with developers who have released web player games.

The install base for Unity is small – the important metric is what percentage of visitors install the plugin when coming to the site. What was quickly uncovered is that this is based on trust in the site requesting the install and on the context of how that request is presented.

This means that the answer is going to be partially based on what you are doing in Unity – are visitors coming to a site specifically to play a game or is a plugin install request happening for something like a banner ad made in Unity? Also are you just relying on the default behavior for the install or are you doing something to motivate it? For the second, take a look at what Flashbang does with Blurst – a video showing what they are missing. My understanding is that Flashbang has a very high install rate with their games, and after talking to them about how they are tracking the metric, I think that it may actually be higher than they believe due to natural bounce rates, etc.
