Webplayer Screen Sizes

Hi guys,

Just a quick, newbie question. Are there any downsides to having a larger than standard screen resolution in the web player? I find the default 600 x 450 resolution pretty limiting and I’ve increased it in my game by a factor of 1.5x. Will this lead to any performance issues or other pitfalls down the road?

thanks,

Raj

It takes more power to render more pixels (regardless of it being web or not). Beyond that i do not think theres any additional pitfalls. The one thing you might want to consider though alot of people still use 1024x768 for their desktop resolution. It could be good to change your desktop resolution to that and see how it fits in the browser.

Thanks for the advice. I really like having the larger screen size … I’m glad I’m not chained into the very small web player resolution by default.

Your webplayer can have as big of a screen size as you want, theoretically. It’s just a question of how many people you want to make able to see it. 1024x768 is a good minimum for desktop resolution, but keep in mind that most web browsers will have a certain amount of filler in the top (and in the sides and bottom, to a lesser extent).

I’ve tried 1.5x the standard resolution, which is 900 x 675 (if I recall correctly). That seems to give me lots of room for my game and still leaves room for the filler from the browser.
